About

While my travel destination “wish list” remains dauntingly long, I am lucky enough to have extensively traveled France in my short 23 years. A French grandmother and numerous trips around France starting at a young age helped me to discover the various regions of this magnificent country. Two separate stints of living in France also helped me see and more importantly, eat my way through a great deal of the French countryside and explore many of the lesser seen, yet jaw-droppingly beautifully areas of France.

As one of the most visited countries in the world, there are a host of destinations in France, that while interesting and beautiful, are often packed with tourists (especially in the summer months). However, there are an equal number of places in France where you can get totally off the well-known and beaten path and enjoy spectacular countryside, great wines, delicious foods, terrific shopping and friendly people.

While I have a deep love for and once called Paris my home, what I love most about France is the countryside. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but there is just a certain ere of relaxed tranquility and appreciation for life found in the tiny, stoned villages that dot the French countryside. From the Alps to the Pyrenees to the Loire and Normandy, each region of France has it’s own distinct and often charming culture, complete with regional foods and wines and having a character all their own.

All of that being said, I have done my best to build Why Go France to help travelers discover the true beauty of France—to help you get “off the beaten path,” understand the food and wine, learn a little about the culture and truly experience France. In the pages of Why Go France you’ll find information on places that may not be featured on flashy, first class travel shows, or may not make the lists of the most popular destinations, but are places with stunning physical and cultural beauty.

All of that said, I hope mostly that I can share a little of my passion, love, and longing for France.

Bon voyage and happy reading!
