Cheap Flights to Lyon

" Lyon : Ville de Lumière..."
Lyon is nine kinds of awesome and if you’re looking for another destination in France besides Paris, you can hardly do better than this historically rich mecca for foodies.
While the size of the city and the fact that its airport is one of the busiest in France make Lyon well-known among the French, it seems as though it’s a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to tourists – and while doing research for you on cheap flights to Lyon, I think I know why.
There are flights to Lyon from some pretty far-flung places – from Manchester to Marrakech, Strasbourg to Split and everywhere in between, including many cities within France. But, major long-distance international carriers do not arrive in or depart from Lyon. So, it looks like it’s a case of out of sight, out of mind!
In fact, the only airline that goes from North America directly to Lyon is the Canadian Air Transat. There are direct flights from Montréal-Trudeau to Lyon, and because they are a “vacation airline” you can get some great deals. For anyone in the States, though, you’re going to have to get to Montréal to take advantage of them.
But luckily for you, because of many other cheap flights to Lyon from within Europe, you can easily add it to your vacation planning, especially if you have an open-jaw ticket. (That means when you fly into one place and out of another.) And, naturally Air France flies to Lyon from Paris, so if you wanted to go right there from home you’d just have to have a short layover before heading on your way.
>> Don’t get me wrong, though; I meant it when I said Lyon is awesome, and you should definitely consider it as a top choice if you want to get out of Paris for a weekend. Read about things to do in Lyon, and general information on hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts in France.

Basic Information About Lyon Airport

TGV Bahnhof Lyon

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) gets its name from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, native son of Lyon and author of The Little Prince, the children’s book much beloved worldwide. (Awww.) It’s less than 15 miles outside Lyon’s city center, and is well connected by a transportation network that includes the super-fast TGV train, shuttle buses and plenty of taxis.
All the major car rental companies have desks at the airport as well. There are even traveler facilities, like showers and a business center.
