The Loire white wines are superb and we enjoy them often. A little known fact is that Antoine Cristal who moved from Paris to Turquant, near Saumur, developed an ingenious system to produce a fine red wine and make it well known in Paris and New York. England's King Edward VII and France's Clemanceau were regular guests at his chateau too. The memories live on. Our village, Parcay Les Pins, has a fine sculpture museum devoted to Jules Desbois, a close friend of Antoine Cristal. This is just one of the local histories of the Loire Valley we are happy to share with our guests who stay with us here at Les Mortiers. There is now a fine organic red produced on the vines of Antoine Cristal. Corner
