Great Corsica Hotels

Most visitors to the island of Corsica rent a vacation home, but there are great hotels deals to be had. Below, we give you our top picks for hotels in Bastia, Calvi, Ajaccio and Cargèse. But first, here are some helpful links to help you get started:

Bastia

The Best Western in Bastia’s city center really is in the center of the action, within walking distance of everything you want to see, do, eat and drink. The hotel was renovated in 2010 and has free WiFi.

I don’t often push chain hotels, but you can never go wrong with a Best Western; they’re a cut above the other hotels in their class, and are extremely reliable throughout Europe.

Ajaccio

The Best Western Amirauté – yes, I’m recommending another Best Western – again has free WiFi and is conveniently located. They also have a pool off their terrace that’s open seasonally, and solid overall facilities.

Oh, and 24-hour snacks, which is perfect for the post-beach munchies while restaurants are closed. I’m telling you, they think of everything – without the 5-star price tag.

Calvi

Le Calvi Hôtel is across from the beach and near the port, so you can walk to it from your boat. The great thing about this hotel is that it has regular rooms, and larger rooms for groups up to six people – without being a hostel.

So if you’re traveling with friends, this is a fantastic choice. The hotel is in a lush, private setting, and the light and airy rooms all have big terraces for pre-dinner drinks.

Cargèse

If you’re a member, the Club Med at Cargèse is a winner. As you can expect, they have tons of activities in an all-inclusive atmosphere that lets you fully enjoy the limpid waters of Corsica’s west coast.

The only thing to note here is that while they say they have English-speaking staff, they’re being optimistic – best to brush up on your French (after all, it is a French-run company operating in France for French people!).
